Cost Engineer
Overview
In this role you will lead cost engineering and analysis for complex projects, developing and enforcing cost control and budgeting practices. You will produce reconciliations, review trends, and implement project cost requirements to drive performance. Your analyses will propose innovative approaches to cost challenges and support audits and reporting. You will work across teams to ensure accurate cashflow, variances, and cost reporting in accordance with standards.
ResponsibilitiesEstablish and monitor project budgets, change management, cost monitoring, and cost variance analysisPrepare and verify project cashflow and revenue earningsAssist with PwC semiyearly project auditEnsure accuracy in cost coding of budgets and actualsAllocate budgets per standards and proceduresIdentify trends and support change controlPrepare cost studies using historical data and statistical analysisProvide guidance on cost engineering activities to junior engineers
Key requirementsBachelor degree with 8–10 years or 12–14 years of relevant experienceExtensive experience implementing change management processes and toolsStrong interpersonal and communication skills (oral/written)Experience in cost estimates, cost control, and cost analysisThorough knowledge of financial reporting systems and controller codesAbility to train and coach junior Cost EngineersExperience with historical data-based cost studies and comparisonsAbility to adapt to urgent project requests and changing prioritiesstrong communicationinterpersonal skillstraining and coachingcost trend estimatescost controlchange management tools
