Operations Coordinator - Gresham
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Operations Coordinator for the Gresham Foam Insulation production facility supports daily operation of the production line and is accountable for development of Operations Shift Resources. The role will ensure production metrics are accurately tracked each shift, development plans for operations employees are followed, and resources are allocated to properly support the production line.
The Operations Coordinator plays a critical role in driving the cultural change by working closely with their peers and the plant NLT. The Operations Coordinator is responsible for safety, quality, and production of the operations team. This position functions as a subject matter expert in the plant for all operations equipment as well as other process, quality, and raw materials functions. They will work closely with the Operations Leader to help roll out AM across the full production area.
The position directly reports to the Operations leader and has 4 dotted line reports in the plant Shift Resources. Requires flexibility to travel up to 10% of the time.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Model Safer Together Culture
Adhere to all safety policies and procedures while ensuring a safe work environment for all.
Promote a strong safety culture by having regular Positive Safety Interactions with all employees
Monitor standard safety and housekeeping practices while also implementing improvements where necessary
Ensure all work instructions and procedures related to the operating of plant production equipment are followed. Where standard work doesn’t exist, foster the use of Pre-Task Planning to ensure safe work practices are followed.
Actively support VPP certification as well as engage team members at all levels to drive continuous improvement of safety programs.
Ensuring a safe, clean and environmentally compliant work environment and building a culture where safety is a fundamental value
Participate in Process Safety Management (PSM) Activities
Guiding Operations
Work with the Operations Leader to help set clear and measurable performance expectations in line with plant goals.
Track critical plant metrics and measure against plant goals on a daily basis.
Develop standard expectations for Operations Shift Resource positions to create a management system that drives performance results.
Continue to build and adapt Operations Career Pathway growth model to ensure the Gresham plant is seen as an employer of choice in the marketplace
Partner with Quality department to develop and track key quality metrics to ensure all FG product meets full quality standards.
Participate Daily Activity Meetings and fill required role in Maintenance RWP
Drive alignment between Operations and Maintenance by building relationships between the two departments
Assist Operations Leader with other duties as required
Enable TPM Deployment
Work with the operational leadership & division TPM steering team to develop the master plan and subsequent strategies for the implementation of AM Pillar in Gresham
Drive creation of robust Operator Basic Care system to create culture where Operations employees can holistically own the health of their equipment.
Bring foundational principles of DMS, 5S, and GEMBA to life in the Operations department by consistent use and through engaging the primary team.
Foster the use to key AM tools such as ECRS to drive improvement in AM activities and continuously create time availability for Operations Team members to work on higher level tasks
Identify, track, and communicate the metrics that will measure the AM Pillar’s progress
Leading and Developing Talent
Conduct regular check ins with each member of the operations team to drive progress on Career Pathways progression.
Develop structured training process to ensure all production team members know where they stand along the Career Pathway
Leads, coaches, and teaches employees to reinforce plant values of engagement, empowerment, conflict resolution, and ownership of safety, plant processes and performance
Advocates for training and development needs of plant production employees to ensure regular investment to achieve sustained success
Collaborate with Operations Leader on team building activities to build camaraderie and skill at the same time
Lead operations onboarding activities to leverage plant resources and set up new hires for success
Participate in plant hiring activities to help identify and select the best talent to continue to improve the Gresham team
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
Past manufacturing line leadership responsibility
5 years of manufacturing experience
Experience:
History of developing and training others within the organization
TPM or lean manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
Understanding of both Extrusion and Downline Equipment
