Senior Java Software EngineerLocation: Plano, TX - Onsite 4-5 days per weekOptomi, in partnership with a leading automotive and financial services organization, is seeking a Senior Java Software Engineer to join a highly collaborative engineering team responsible for building and supporting modern enterprise applications.This opportunity is ideal for an experienced software engineer with approximately 7-10 years of professional development experience and strong hands-on expertise across Java, Spring Boot, AWS, Terraform, APIs, and distributed systems.The team operates in a technology-agnostic engineering environment, so candidates should be curious, adaptable, quality-focused, and interested in expanding their skills across technologies such as Go and other modern development platforms.What You’ll Be DoingDesign, develop, and maintain scalable Java microservices and batch applications using Spring BootParticipate in the complete software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, production support, and continuous improvementBuild and consume secure, reliable, and high-performing RESTful APIs and enterprise servicesDesign and develop event-driven microservices, including Kafka producers and consumersDeploy, support, and operate cloud-native applications within AWSBuild and maintain cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practicesContribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, quality controls, and secure deployment processesImplement observability, monitoring, and logging to proactively identify and resolve production issuesContribute to Go-based development when needed and remain open to learning additional languages, frameworks, and platformsQualifications / Must HavesApproximately 7-10 years of professional software development experience5+ years of professional Java development experienceStrong hands-on experience with Spring Framework and Spring BootHands-on experience developing enterprise microservices and distributed applicationsExperience developing and integrating RESTful APIsHands-on AWS cloud experienceHands-on experience using Terraform for Infrastructure as CodeExperience building event-driven applications, ideally using KafkaExperience with relational databases and SQLStrong experience with automated testing and CI/CD practicesExperience with application monitoring, logging, debugging, observability, and production supportStrong understanding of modern software engineering and application-development best practicesStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work onsite in Plano, TX 4-5 days per weekNice to HaveGo / Golang development experience or a genuine interest in learning GoKubernetes or container orchestration experienceExperience working across multiple programming languages or development platformsExperience within large-scale enterprise engineering environments
