Apply via Dice today!Job Title Databricks Data & AI EngineerJob Location - Houston, Texas (Hybrid: 2 3 days per week from office)Job Description -Digital / Data & AI Engineer Embedded AI & Digital Capability (Trading & Supply)QualificationsBachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data, Information Systems, or related fieldRelevant certifications (desirable, not mandatory):Cloud, data, automation, or AI certificationsAgile delivery certifications (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban)Experience level aligned to 8+ years with strong hands-on delivery exposureProven experience working close to business teams in fast paced environmentsExperience working in Commodities (or any) Trading domain________________________________________Role PurposeThe Digital Engineer is an embedded technology specialist working directly within Trading & Supply teams to accelerate delivery of digital, automation, and AI solutions.The role focuses on:Identifying and delivering high impact digital and AI opportunities close to the businessTranslating business problems into scalable, production ready solutionsRaising decision making speed, reducing manual effort, and improving quality and controlBridging business demand with IT delivery, architecture, and governance________________________________________Core Skills & Responsibilities Digital & AI Solution Delivery (Mandatory)Design, build, and deliver digital, automation, and AI solutions from idea to productionDevelop POCs, prototypes, and production grade solutions aligned to Shell target architectureApply the right level of engineering (low code, scripting, data engineering, AI) based on problem complexityEnsure solutions are secure, supportable, and compliant with risk and governance requirements________________________________________ Opportunity Identification & Business EngagementWork side by side with traders, contract advisors, and operations teams to identify digital opportunitiesObserve day to day workflows to spot inefficiencies, risks, and automation potentialTranslate business problems into clearly defined digital or AI use cases with measurable valueAct as a trusted partner embedded with the business, not a remote delivery role________________________________________ Stakeholder & Governance EngagementAct as a bridge between business teams, engineers, architects, security, and governance functionsSupport risk assessment, compliance, and approval processes for digital and AI solutionsCommunicate progress, value, and risks clearly to business and IT stakeholdersEnsure solutions follow Shell policies on data, security, AI, and regulatory compliance________________________________________ Tools & Ways of WorkingExperience working in Agile, iterative delivery environmentsHands on experience with some of the following (depth in a subset expected):Data & analytics (e.g. SQL, Python, Databricks, cloud platforms-Azure)Automation & low code tools (e.g. Power Automate, Power Apps)AI / GenAI workflows (assistive AI, document automation, agents)AI Foundry, Databricks Mosaic, MS Copilot Studio, Langchain, Langgraph________________________________________Good to Have SkillsExperience delivering automation or AI in operational, trading, or contract heavy environmentsStrong problem framing and value articulation skillsUpskilling business users on digital tools and ways of workingExposure to Trading & Supply, Commercial Operations, or similar complex domainsExperience working in embedded, federated, or hub and spoke capability modelsComfortable balancing speed of delivery with safety, risk, and architectural discipline
