Job Description :Position OverviewMichelle Thomas, M.D., Inc. is seeking a Contract Nurse Practitioner (1099) to join our growing primary care practice in Fresno, California. This role is designed for a motivated provider who values autonomy, efficiency, and high-quality patient care across both clinic and facility settings.This position will begin under a three-month introductory contract period, allowing both the provider and the practice to establish alignment in workflow, patient care standards, and long-term fit. Following this period, there is strong potential for continued engagement and expanded scheduling based on performance and patient volume.The Nurse Practitioner will work collaboratively under physician oversight, supporting continuity of care while maintaining independent clinical judgment within scope of practice.Scope of Services / ResponsibilitiesPerform comprehensive patient evaluations including medical history and physical examinationsDiagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions, with a focus on adult and geriatric populationsConduct follow-up visits and medication managementProvide care within clinic, assisted living facilities, and board and care settingsDocument all encounters accurately and efficiently within the EMR systemCoordinate patient care and communicate with supervising physician as appropriateDeliver patient education on preventive care, treatment plans, and medication adherenceParticipate in telehealth services as neededWork Structure & AvailabilityIndependent Contractor (1099) role, not a W-2 positionInitial scheduling will be flexible and based on clinic needs, with the expectation of establishing consistent weekly availabilityAnticipated schedule growth into regular clinical days as patient volume increasesProvider may be requested to support both in-office visits and local facility roundsCompensation StructureCompensation is structured on a per-patient basis or agreed contract rate, to be outlined in the formal Independent Contractor AgreementPayment terms and schedule will be defined contractually (typically biweekly)No benefits are provided under this independent contractor arrangementQualificationsActive and unrestricted California Nurse Practitioner licenseBoard Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Primary Care equivalentStrong clinical judgment and ability to work independently within scopeExperience in primary care, internal medicine, or geriatric care preferredComfortable working across clinic and facility environmentsProficient in EMR documentationProfessional communication and organizational skillsProfessional ExpectationsMaintain compliance with all applicable state regulations and scope of practice requirementsCarry active malpractice insurance and required certificationsDemonstrate reliability, professionalism, and commitment to patient-centered careWork collaboratively within a structured practice environment under physician guidanceGrowth OpportunityThis role is structured with long-term growth in mind.
