Software Engineer 1 (Training Systems Visuals)
An excellent opportunity to serve as a software developer on the Systems and Simulation Modeling team at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Johnson Space Center (JSC). The position focuses on developing and maintaining the Training Systems (TS) software that supports the International Space Station, Artemis, Commercial Crew Program, Gateway, and Lunar operations.
Responsibilities:
Develop and manage the visuals and graphic applications to support real-time simulation and software for payload training and interfaces to the external payload models and visiting vehicles.
Perform simple and complex software builds, including compiling, linking, packaging, and integrating software with other developers
Merging, resolving, and managing code conflicts and dependencies.
Required Qualifications:
This position requires successful completion of a government background check to access government facilities and systems. Work cannot begin on the NASA program without a fully adjudicated security clearance. If you are not a U.S. Citizen or Green card holder, this check could take 12 to 18 months to complete.
Preferred candidates will hold a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related degree
Software development experience using C++ with UNIX or Linux skills
Programming experience and knowledge of developing software applications
Strong coordination and communication skills, both oral and written
Familiarity with automated testing, Agile software development methods
Ability to work as part of a team or as an individual contributor
Excellent interpersonal skills
Strong initiative, teamwork and problem solving skills
Ability to plan, maintain schedules, and push to meet deadlines
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and professionally represent the program
Highly motivated individual willing to learn and apply new concepts, tools, and software
Desired Skills:
Previous experience in C++, Java, and/or Python software development
Previous experience in AMERGINT, gbd, and wireshark
Familiarity with Requirements verification methodologies
Leadership skills
