Substitute Early Childhood Education Paraeducator (ECE)Position SummaryAssists one or more Early Childhood teachers in the education, care, supervision, andinstruction of pre-school aged children, in classrooms, common areas, and playgrounds at a center dedicated to pre-kindergarten children, and in the community. Maintains and prepares classroom and related environments, materials, and control of forms. Assists in developing play-oriented curriculum.Work Year: ContinuousEmployee Type: Full Time and Part TimeSalary: $18.77 per hour (Step 1 of the Board Approved CSEA Salary Schedule for the classification)Education and ExperienceThe position requires a High School diploma and 6 college units of Early ChildDevelopment, Early Childhood Education or other related field with emphasis on infant to preschool age children. Requires successful completion of at least 48 college credit units or passage of a competency assessment. One year of experience in a preschool age enrichment program or child care setting is preferred.Requirements for ECE Paraeducator positions under the Federal Head Start Program; High School Diploma or equivalent and a California Associate Teacher Permit (Referred by Federal head Start as "Child Development Associate Credential") or Associate Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.Licenses and CertificatesMay require a valid driver's license.
