TTUHSC will not pay the $100,000 fee, if applicable.Position DescriptionThe PSS III independently follows established procedures to conduct moderate to complex clerical responsibilities that impact clinic patient flow. Responsibilities may include registration, scheduling, collections, and/or insurance authorizations.Major/Essential FunctionsManages patient check-in process and ensures that all necessary records (including HIPAA and other compliance documents) are obtained and are up-to-date. Verifies that needed referrals and authorizations have been obtained. Supports resolution of denied or delayed insurance claims. Optimizes patient satisfaction, provider time, and facility utilization by scheduling appointments according to established Clinic protocols. Verify appointments when contacted by patients or providers and adjust the schedule for cancellations/no-shows. Calculates clinic charges; collects and records patient co-pays and payments. Works with other staff to file, collect, and expedite third-party claims. Manages authorizations and claim follow-up. Tracks outstanding balances/issues. Communicates with patients, graduate students, TTUHSC(Texas Tech Health Sciences Center) and non-TTUHSC physicians, and various community referral sources. Handles inquiries and provides information about the SLH Clinic; obtains referrals, authorizations, and external reports as needed. Exercises diplomacy and problem-solving skills when handling complaints. Educates and supervises graduate assistants and clinicians about clinical policies and procedures. Assists faculty with operational logistics and supports the operational needs of a university teaching clinic by coordinating communication and workflow among patients, faculty supervisors, graduate clinicians, and community providers. Performs day-to-day administrative functions and general office duties, including word processing, copying, filing, answering phones and directing calls, and entering and retrieving patient data. Works collaboratively with other staff to cover duties in the event of an absence or illness. Maintains secure records, assists with audits and ensures documentation compliance and completeness. Maintains compliance with HIPAA, FERPA, university, and clinical documentation policies; identifies and reports discrepancies or privacy concerns. Exercises independent judgment to resolve scheduling conflicts, patient concerns, insurance issues, and operational challenges. Required QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalent and 3 years of related experience.Preferred QualificationsExperience with EPIC. Bilingual(English and Spanish). Experience with insurance and authorizations.
