Software Engineer (Engineer, Software)

Overview In this role you will design, test, and integrate simulation and test software to validate flight software and GN&C algorithms for satellite operations. You will build digital twins and flat sats, and work with cross-functional teams to assemble and validate a space mission’s software-in-the-loop environment. The position blends modeling, simulation, and hardware-in-the-loop to enable rigorous verification and mission readiness. This is a chance to contribute to spacecraft software systems within a mission-driven aerospace team. ResponsibilitiesDevelop, maintain, and configure simulation and test software for validating flight software, GN&C, and satellite operationTranslate system requirements for digital twins and flat sats into software architectures and implementationsCreate component emulators for validating flight software and day-in-the-life testsAdapt/test software to enable full verification and validation during AI&T operationsCollaborate with electrical engineering to design a flat sat representing the spacecraftPerform unit, integration, and system-level testing including hardware-in-the-loopDocument project progress, software design, implementation, and testing processesAdhere to safety protocols on test benches and environmentsTroubleshoot issues with simulation and test software systemsApply software development best practices and version controlEnsure compliance with aerospace quality standards and configuration managementCollaborate with cross-functional teams including systems, avionics, and mission operations Key requirementsBachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related fieldProficiency in C++ and PythonProficiency with Linux and shell scriptingExperience with real time systemsFamiliarity with spacecraft avionics interfaces and protocols (MIL-STD-1553, CAN, SpaceWire, RS-422, Ethernet)Experience with Object Oriented software developmentExperience with version control systems (Git, SVN) and issue tracking tools (JIRA)Occasional travelUS Citizen with ability to obtain a security clearanceStrong communicationOrganizational skillsCross-functional collaborationC++PythonLinux
