Senior Data Engineer / Database DeveloperLocation: Irving, TX – Hybrid (3 days onsite)Duration: Long-Term ContractHM notes:We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer / Database Developer with strong expertise in SQL Server, Azure SQL, and Databricks to design, develop, optimize, and support scalable cloud-based data solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain complex SQL Server and Azure SQL databases.Develop and optimize advanced T-SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and views.Perform query tuning, indexing, and database performance optimization.Work with Databricks / Apache Spark for large-scale data processing and transformations.Integrate Azure SQL with Databricks using Delta Lake, Spark SQL, and PySpark.Design and maintain relational and dimensional data models.Implement data warehousing patterns, including Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD).Support ETL/ELT processes and cloud-based data architectures.Ensure database security, integrity, reliability, and performance.Troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis.Collaborate with Data Engineers, BI teams, developers, and business stakeholders.Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior developers.Required Skills10+ years of experience as a Database Developer, Data Engineer, or similar role.Strong expertise in SQL Server, Azure SQL, and T-SQL.Hands-on experience with Databricks and Apache Spark.Strong knowledge of PySpark, Spark SQL, and Delta Lake.Experience with data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and SCD.Hands-on experience working in Azure cloud environments.Strong experience in query optimization and database performance tuning.Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
