TPWD - Custodian III (Custodian) Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, this position performs highly complex (senior-level) custodial work to include cleaning/sanitation of state facilities, including, but not limited to two public restrooms and rental facilities, two group facilities and up to thirteen fully furnished historic cabins. Performs custodial duties aligned with historic preservation techniques to meet cultural resource management principals. Work involves conducting inspections of buildings and equipment. Performs general custodial functions such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and cleaning windows and light fixtures. Performs cleaning and restroom maintenance, replenishing supplies and applying cleaning chemicals as appropriate. Performs minor building repairs. Performs moving of furniture and other items. Performs minor maintenance and repair work on custodial equipment. Cleans, dusts, and inspects areas such as restrooms, offices, and other facilities. Cleans furniture, walls, windows and floors and empties trash. Inspects buildings for cleanliness, completed work and needed repairs. Maintains inventory records of custodial equipment, materials, and supplies. Assists with visitor services including providing customer service and information to park visitors. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Education: Completion of 8th grade. Experience: One year experience in areas such as general cleaning, housekeeping or custodial work. Licensure: Must possess a valid State driver's license. Preferred Qualifications: Experience: Experience working with the public. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of general work site safety. Knowledge of cleaning techniques and procedures. Knowledge of inventory control principles and methods. Knowledge of historic preservation techniques. Knowledge of basic mathematics. Skill in use of custodial materials and chemicals. Skill in use of operating custodial equipment. Skill in the use and maintenance of building maintenance tools and equipment. Skill in effective verbal and written communication. Skill in providing quality customer service in a courteous and professional manner. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective work relationships with co-workers and work-related contacts. Skill in making independent, sound and timely decisions. Skill in using MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Ability to maintain flexibility and work with frequent interruptions and multiple changing priorities. Ability to work independently with little or no supervision. Ability to work as a member of a team. Ability to produce electronic reports. Ability to supervise alternative workforce. Ability to perform manual labor such as lifting supplies and materials, up to 50 lbs. Ability to conduct work activities in accordance with TPWD safety program. Working Conditions: Required to work in a public park with overnight camping and day use. Required to work 40 hours per week, includes various schedules with hours other than 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and days off other than Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Required to perform work outdoors, occasionally in adverse weather conditions. Must conform to TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules and safety procedures. Required to perform manual labor including, lifting supplies and materials up to 50 lbs. Required to travel 5% with possible overnight stays. Required to operate a state vehicle.
