Job Title: Sr Mainframe DeveloperLocation: Hybrid at Reading, PA Position Type: ContractWork model Expectation: Candidate should be willing to work onsite in Reading, PA, preferably 3 days/week, 2 weeks/monthMust Be Us Citizen Or Green Card HolderHYBRID (must be on site 3 days a week)Experience Required: 8-10Job Summary:We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer with strong expertise in COBOL-based application development, maintenance, and support. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical knowledge of IBM mainframe technologies and tools, with a proven ability to troubleshoot complex production issues, optimize system performance, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.Experience:10+ Relevant experience in Mainframe Development and SupportKey Responsibilities:Design, develop, enhance, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL II, JCL, CICS, and related technologies.Develop and support online and batch processing applications in a mainframe environment.Work with VSAM files for data storage, retrieval, and maintenance activities.Create and maintain screen maps using SDF II (COBOL Maps).Perform debugging and issue resolution using CEDF (CICS Debug Utility) and IBM Debugging Utility.Utilize File Manager/FileAid tools for data analysis, testing, and troubleshooting.Analyze application performance and implement system-level tuning and optimization.Support system security, stability, and compliance requirements.Investigate and resolve production incidents and technical issues in a timely manner.Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, and development teams to deliver high-quality solutions.Prepare technical documentation and participate in code reviews and knowledge-sharing activities.Required Skills & Qualifications:Strong proficiency in COBOL II, JCL, CICS, and other mainframe programming technologies.Hands-on experience with VSAM files.Experience using SDF II (COBOL Maps).Experience with CEDF (CICS Debug Utility).Experience with File Manager or FileAid tools.Experience with IBM Debugging Utility.Knowledge of system-level debugging, performance tuning, and system security.Experience with Easytrieve.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.Preferred Qualifications:Experience supporting large-scale enterprise mainframe applicationsFamiliarity with production support and incident management processesKnowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and best practices
