Procurement Manager
Overview
In this role you will manage end-to-end procurement for Precigen’s commercial and R&D activities, driving strategic sourcing, supplier relationships, and contract compliance. You will ensure uninterrupted supply of materials and services while optimizing cost, quality, and risk in a fast-paced biotech environment. Your work supports regulatory compliance and supplier diversity initiatives, enabling our gene therapy programs. This position offers the opportunity to shape procurement strategy and implement process improvements that sustain growth and patient access.
ResponsibilitiesLead end-to-end procurement across materials, services, equipment, and engineering for commercial and R&D functionsNegotiate and manage purchasing contracts to improve terms (price, payment, lead time, quality, service)Develop and execute strategic sourcing for API raw materials, intermediates, excipients, solvents, packaging, and contract servicesEnsure uninterrupted supply of compliant materials while optimizing cost, quality, risk, and supplier performanceIdentify and mitigate supply risks (single-sourcing, geopolitical, regulatory) and develop contingency plansManage purchase requests and procurement activities ensuring SOX compliance and alignment with business objectivesOversee receiving processes and ensure ERP-recorded confirmations for three-way match and timely invoicing
Key requirementsBachelor in Supply Chain Management or related field; master’s preferred5+ years in pharma/biotech procurement with SRP experienceStrong negotiation, analytical, and project management skillsFamiliarity with global sourcing and logisticsKnowledge of FDA, EU GMP, ICH Q7, and supplier qualification requirementsProven ability to manage shifting priorities and lead teamsERP experience (NetSuite, SAP)Supply chain certifications (APICS, CPM, CPSM) preferredExcellent communication and leadership abilitiesanalytical thinkingcross-functional collaborationclear communicationERP systems (NetSuite, SAP)Strategic sourcingVendor/contract management
