From celebrating progress on academic goals to nurturing social-emotional growth, you'll create joyful learning moments that matter, moments that set the tone for a scholar's entire educational journey and build lasting connections with the families we serve.Job DescriptionPosition OverviewThe Special Education Teacher at KIPP Tulsa is a critical member of the instructional team who ensures that students with exceptionalities receive high-quality, individualized instruction that supports their academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth. This role involves collaboration with general education teachers, families, and service providers to ensure students receive the support and services outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).Key ResponsibilitiesProvide direct instruction to students with IEPs in inclusion, resource, or self-contained settings using evidence-based strategies and curricula.Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal regulations.Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt and modify curriculum and assessments for students with diverse learning needs.Collect and analyze student data to inform instruction, monitor progress toward IEP goals, and drive decision-making.Participate in and facilitate IEP meetings, ensuring that families are fully informed and engaged in the process.Provide case management for students with IEPs, including documentation, communication with stakeholders, and progress reporting.Implement positive behavior support plans and utilize restorative practices when appropriate.Maintain accurate records in compliance with IDEA and Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) guidelines.Collaborate with school psychologists, counselors, paraprofessionals, and related service providers to meet students' needs.Serve as a model of KIPP's core values and contribute to a strong, supportive school cultureModeling a "whatever it takes" spirit to ensure that each student is successfulModeling the school's values in all communications with students, families, and staffQualificationsRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related fieldValid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate in Mild/Moderate Disabilities (or eligibility to obtain certification)Demonstrated knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and special education complianceExperience working with students with exceptionalities in a secondary school settingCommitment to the success of all studentsStrong organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to collaborate and communicate effectively with students, families, and colleaguesPreferred Qualifications:Master's degree in Special Education or a related fieldExperience working in a high-performing, college-preparatory school environmentProficiency with IEP management systems (e.g., EdPlan) and student data platformsBilingual in English and Spanish is a plusAdditional InformationAll your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.Compensation and Benefits:This is a Full-Time, 10-month teaching position.Employees are eligible to participate in employer benefits including health, dental, life, accidental death and dismemberment, short and long term disability and participation in Oklahoma Teacher Retirement plans.
