Automotive Service Writer

Job Description Mancan is working with an automotive dealership in Millersburg seeking a service writer. This is a temp to hire position for the right candidate based on attitude, attendance, and performance. Pay is 35-40K plus commission. Standard hours are Monday-Friday from 8-5. Must be available to work one Monday per month until 8 pm and one Saturday per month from 8-noon.The Automotive Service Writer is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and ensuring effective communication between the customer and the service team. This role involves scheduling service appointments, accurately documenting customer vehicle issues, and managing the repair process from start to finish. The Service Writer ensures that customers are informed about their vehicle's status and any additional repairs or costs needed.Key Responsibilities: - Obtain customer and vehicle data prior to arrival when possible to streamline the check-in process. - Greet customers in a timely and friendly manner upon their arrival. - Write up the customer's vehicle problems accurately and clearly on the repair order. - Refer to service history and inspect vehicles to recommend additional needed services. - Provide a complete and accurate written cost estimate for labor and parts. - Check on the progress of repairs throughout the day, contacting customers regarding any changes in the estimate or promised time, and explaining cost and time requirements in detail. - Obtain proper authorization before performing any additional repairs. - Receive authorizations from the manufacturer for any prior approvals needed. - Verify any warranty coverage before repairs. - Check for open recalls on any product and ensure they are addressed. - Maintain high customer satisfaction standards by addressing any concerns promptly and effectively. - Handle telephone inquiries regarding appointments and work in process with professionalism and efficiency.Qualifications: - Valid driver license - Ability to read and follow instructions - Strong communications skills. Basic math and typing skills - High school diploma or equivalent - 2 years of experience preferred but not required.
