Shipyard Structural Fitter Shipyard Industry Bonus Eligible Position Position Summary Elite Workforce LLC is seeking experienced Shipyard Structural Fitters to join our growing team. The Shipyard Structural Fitter is responsible for laying out, fitting, aligning, and assembling structural steel components used in the construction, repair, and conversion of marine vessels and offshore structures. Candidates must be able to read shipyard blueprints, accurately fit structural members, and work safely in a fast-paced production environment. This position is bonus eligible, rewarding employees who demonstrate outstanding attendance, safety, quality workmanship, and productivity. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Read and interpret shipyard blueprints, structural drawings, work packages, and welding symbols. Lay out, fit, align, and assemble structural steel components according to specifications. Fit and install hull sections, bulkheads, decks, foundations, stiffeners, brackets, frames, and other structural members. Verify proper alignment and dimensions using measuring tools and layout equipment. Tack weld components in preparation for final welding. Operate hand tools, grinders, magnetic drills, oxy-fuel cutting equipment, and other fabrication tools. Ensure proper fit-up before welding to minimize rework. Perform modifications and repairs to structural components as directed. Maintain production schedules while meeting quality standards. Follow all OSHA, shipyard, customer, and company safety requirements. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Work overtime, weekends, and various shifts as required. Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of structural fitting experience in a shipyard, marine construction, or heavy industrial environment. Ability to read and interpret shipyard blueprints and fabrication drawings. Strong knowledge of shipbuilding practices and structural assembly techniques. Experience using oxy-fuel cutting equipment, hand tools, and measuring instruments Reliable transportation and excellent attendance. Strong commitment to safety and quality. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and enter confined spaces. Frequent bending, kneeling, crawling, squatting, and standing for extended periods. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
