This role focuses on applying modern AI tools and automation techniques to real-world software engineering, security, and geospatial support challenges.This internship is ideal for someone who is eager to learn, enjoys solving difficult problems, and wants hands-on experience working in a collaborative engineering environment. The ideal candidate demonstrates initiative, perseverance through challenging tasks, and a strong drive to succeed.What You’ll DoAs an Applied AI and Automation Intern, you will work alongside experienced engineers and contribute to real-world projects, including:Developing and maintaining small software support tools for engineering, security, and development teamsUsing AI-assisted software engineering tools and workflows to improve development efficiency and automationExperimenting with AI technologies, agent-based workflows, and prompt engineering techniques to support operational and engineering needsAssisting with AI-enabled automation solutions for internal processes and developer workflowsSupporting rapid prototyping efforts using modern AI development toolsAssisting with basic geospatial data management and processing functionsSupporting scripting, automation, and internal tooling initiativesParticipating in Agile/SCRUM ceremonies and learning how engineering teams operate in a corporate environmentCollaborating with engineers to troubleshoot issues, improve workflows, and evaluate emerging technologiesWhat We’re Looking ForDesired QualitiesStrong willingness to learn and adaptPersistence when working through difficult technical challengesSelf-motivation and initiativePositive attitude and drive to succeedCuriosity about emerging technologies and AI-assisted workflowsAbility to work collaboratively within a team environmentGood communication and problem-solving skillsPreferred QualificationsPursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, GIS, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical field preferred, but not requiredFamiliarity with programming or scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, Java, or similarInterest in applied AI, software automation, geospatial technologies, or modern development workflowsExposure to Git, APIs, cloud platforms, or automation frameworks is a plusExperience using AI-assisted development tools (such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, etc.) is a plusFamiliarity with prompt engineering concepts or AI workflow automation is a plusRequirementsU.S. Citizenship requiredNo security clearance requiredMust be available for the duration of the summer internship periodWhat You’ll GainHands-on experience applying AI tools to real engineering problemsExposure to AI-assisted software development and automation workflowsExperience working in a SCRUM/Agile engineering environmentMentorship from experienced engineers and technical leadersPractical experience in a corporate engineering settingExposure to geospatial and security-oriented development environments‎Cubic Pay Range$27.00 - $42.00 + benefits.‎The Cubic pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
