Senior Software Engineer

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work as part of a tightly knit team to design, develop, implement, integrate, test, and demonstrate advanced algorithms and software systems for autonomous platforms. You will provide technical leadership and mentoring on programs working throughout the software and system development lifecycle, from early prototypes to integrated systems. Your work will develop a diverse set of software tools and applications for mission planning systems, automated control processes, unmanned platforms, DevSecOps, and CI/CD pipelines.This position is based in Woburn, MA, Arlington, VA, or Dayton, OH, and will take advantage of STR’s flexible, hybrid environment – when the work does not require use of STR’s facilities, you are welcome to work remotely. Who You Are:Ability to obtain a security clearance for which U.S. Citizenship is needed by the U.S governmentBS in Computer Science or related technical field with minimum of 5+ years’ relevant experience (or equivalent experience)3+ years experience with Python for technical, object-oriented, software developmentProven understanding of data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and code optimizationExperience with Docker/Podman containerized developmentExperience with software-in-the-loop simulation testingProven ability to lead and manage moderate size engineering teams (2-4 engineers)Demonstrated ability to assess algorithm performance under testing using statistical methods and analysisComfortable working both with internal leadership and external customers in the development and execution of software product plansA demonstrated ability to adopt new languages, libraries, and technologiesProven ability to develop, implement, integrate, and test autonomy algorithms and software Even Better:Active security clearanceMS or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fieldExperience with the following: Assignment algorithms, resource management/optimization, auction algorithmsC++Control theory and algorithmsRF technology (radar, EW, communications) fundamentalsReinforcement learningAgentic AITCPED Management for Tactical ISRExperience programming for embedded and physical devicesMulti-agent coordination of UxVsMAVLINK or other C2 protocolsUnreal Engine modelingROSTAKDevSecOps and CI/CD tool chainsIntegration of complex software systemsConstraint satisfaction algorithmsKnowledge representation/ontologiesPay Information: Full-Time Salary Range: $134,000 - $184,000The salary range listed is based on external market data.
