This position is staffed in Coachella, at Armtec's world-class, sole-source production facility for felted fiber nitrocellulose combustible cartridge cases for medium and large caliber military ammunition; and pyrophoric payloads for training grenades.Job OverviewTitle: Senior Environmental EngineerJob Family: Safety & ComplianceReports to: Environmental, Health and Safety ManagerWorks with: Managers and supervisors, employeesLocation: Coachella, CaliforniaType: Full-TimeJob Summary: With a focus to ensure that Armtec Defense Products Company complies with environmental law, the Senior Environmental Engineer coordinates with regulators from United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), California Department of Toxic Substance Control (DTSC), the Certified, Unified, Program Agency (CUPA) and other local authorities. With assistance from Environmental Compliance Technicians, the Senior Engineer will oversee the proper usage of hazardous chemicals and ensures all wastes, both hazardous and non-hazardous, are disposed of in compliance with Environmental Laws.Primary ResponsibilitiesReviews proposed rules and regulations to determine their effect on operations at Armtec.Collects data for the preparation of reports to various regulatory agencies and prepares these reports.Assesses the need for environmental permits on new and existing equipment, prepares the necessary permit applications, and submits them to the appropriate agency.Prepares, implements, and maintains written procedures that will ensure and document the company's adherence to regulations and permit operating conditions.Evaluates findings of routine plant inspections in light of environmental regulations and permit operating conditions.Supervises the Environmental Technicians.Coordinates chemical spill response activities.Prepares, implements, and maintains mandated employee training programs.Research waste reduction practices for routine company operations.Conducts audits and inspections of contractors and service providers to protect the company's interest and compliance position.Maintain the highest ethical standards, even when challenged from aboveUnderstand and live by Armtec's ethics and business conduct policiesArmtec CompetenciesDemonstrate ability in the Armtec competencies as an employee: customer focus, ethics and values, problem solving, integrity and trust, functional/technical skills, listening, action-oriented, composure and values diversity.Education & Professional Work Experience RequirementsBachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or in a science related field and a minimum of ten years' experience.
