HSD Systems Engineer
Requirements We prefer a bachelors degree from a four-year college or university, with at least two years of progressive experience in a network engineering role.
We prefer prior experience working in an MSO environment within the cable industry.
We require 4+ years of hands-on Linux administration experience in CentOS or RHEL environments.
We value proficiency with automation and scripting tools such as Shell, Python, Perl, Docker, and/or Ansible.
We require 4+ years of experience designing, deploying, and operating highly available corporate and telecommunications networks.
We need strong troubleshooting capabilities and a solid grasp of industry-standard network security practices.
We prefer relevant certifications such as RHCSA, RHCE, and CCNA.
We require at least an associate-level networking certification, with a professional-level networking certification preferred.
We need flexibility to participate in on-call support outside normal business hours.
We require the ability to travel up to 10%.
We prefer experience with DHCP, DNS, and/or NTP application design and implementation projects.
We prefer familiarity with vendor platforms such as Incognito, Infoblox, and Red Hat.
We prefer experience with IPv4, IPv6, DHCP, DNS, Docker, LDAP, and related technologies or standards.
We value strong networking fundamentals, vendor relationship management, and the ability to resolve escalated application issues.
Responsibilities We deploy, upgrade, and maintain our High-Speed Data infrastructure that supports critical internet services.
We implement new software tied to engineering initiatives and technology projects.
We manage the lifecycle of HSD applications and support upgrades for backend-dependent technologies.
We create Low-Level Design documentation, including configuration templates, procedures, application diagrams, knowledge base articles, bills of materials, and support materials.
We deliver training to team members on new technology integrations, upgrades, product design, and implementation.
We analyze project requests to estimate effort and cost.
We work with project teams to define requirements, risks, and scope limitations.
We perform on-call support, customer equipment escalations, and overnight network changes as assigned.
We configure, administer, and troubleshoot Linux systems, DOCSIS provisioning, DNS, DHCP, authentication, and access policies to maintain performance, security, and connectivity.
We use Python, Ansible, and other scripting tools to automate tasks, resolve issues, and improve system optimization.
We respond to escalations directed to the HSD Systems Engineering team and serve as a technical point of contact.
