Network Engineer Level 4 Location: Woodlawn, Maryland Type: Contract To Hire Compensation: $83/h-$93/h Contractor Work Model: Hybrid RemoteSecurity Clearance: Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearanceOverview We are seeking a highly experienced Network Engineer Level 4 to support large-scale network infrastructure initiatives for a federal agency. This role will focus on designing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise network solutions across a wide range of remote and campus environments. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and experience working in complex, high-availability environments.ResponsibilitiesSupport several projects for a large federal agency, providing expert network management and technical leadershipSurvey network requirements for remote field offices (approx. 1950 sites) and campus buildings, defining equipment, cables, adapters, and configurations to upgrade infrastructureLead the rollout of WLAN solutions to remote field offices nationwide, ensuring seamless deployment and integrationDesign, improve, operate, and maintain the Network Admission Control (NAC) system and Virtual Private Networking (VPN) access for optimal security and performanceAnalyze existing network configurations and determine implementation needs to enhance network functionality, performance, and reliabilityCoordinate installation schedules with customers and field contractors, preparing and loading network equipment with appropriate software and configuration settingsPlan and execute site surveys for WLAN and NAC implementations, managing equipment delivery and deploymentUpgrade existing network equipment configurations to support new features and functions as requiredManage field installation teams, providing technical guidance and support for site surveys and installationsContinuously evaluate network systems for opportunities to improve performance and reliability, and assist in the selection of advanced network solutionsTest LAN/WAN/WLAN/NAC equipment software, including IOS and CatOSDevelop and maintain network documentation, diagrams, standards, and operating proceduresMonitor and enhance network/system performance and customer service practicesManage network installation and upgrade projects, maintaining schedules and providing status reports to government clients and managementProvide third-level support for troubleshooting network issues, including after-hours and weekend availability when neededStay current with advancements in network and hardware/software technology to ensure best practicesRequirementsMinimum of 7 years of relevant experience in networking engineering, especially within large enterprise environments of over 3,000 network nodesBachelor’s Degree in Information Systems/Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience (11 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree)Certification at Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert (CCIE) level with specialization in Routing & Switching, wireless, security, or data centerAt least 3 years of experience working with AWS network connectivity in large enterprise environmentsProven ability to adapt to new technologies and learn necessary skills independentlyMature, self-motivated, adaptable, and team-oriented mindsetExperience developing detailed plans and documenting use cases and requirementsAbility to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearancePreferred Qualifications5 years’ experience with WAN technologies including MPLS, DMVPN, Frame Relay5 years’ experience with LAN technologies such as Ethernet and wireless LANs, including physical media and equipmentExperience with Network Admission Control (NAC) and Cisco Identity Service Engine (ISE) for wireless and wired networksCertifications such as CISSP, PCNSE, or ITIL are a plusSystem One, and its subsidiaries including Joulé, ALTA IT Services, and Mountain Ltd., are leaders in delivering outsourced services and workforce solutions across North America.
