We provide customers leading edge support from protype to production.SUMMARY OF POSITION:The CNC Engineer ensures operational efficiency by overseeing machine health, optimizing tooling and fixturing, and maintaining strict process compliance. This role acts as the technical bridge between production needs and maintenance execution, managing both internal tasks and external service providers to minimize quality rejections and maximize throughput.ESSENTIAL DUTIESMonitor production to ensure correct tooling and fixtures are utilized and provide technical support to upgrade tooling strategies for higher outputAudit and verify that Work Instructions (WI) and manufacturing processes are being followed accurately across the CNC departmentsAct as the technical lead when machines are down to prioritize maintenance technicians and ensure a rapid return-to-serviceMaintain a detailed status log of all equipment awaiting repair, tracking the progress of internal work and the availability of partsManage the scheduling and completion of all Preventive Maintenance (PM) tasks performed by the maintenance teamServe as the primary point of contact for external repair shops and OEM technicians, coordinating their arrival and supervising their on-site workParticipate as a core member of the troubleshooting team to solve scrap and quality issues, using root-cause analysis to implement permanent fixesPartner with Quality Engineering to validate process capability and reduce defectsImplement engineering controls, guarding improvements, and ergonomic solutions to ensure a safe working environmentConduct time studies and apply Lean principles to simplify workflows and reduce machine changeover timesEDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREDBachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or an equivalent combination of technical education and 3+ years of experience in CNC environmentsStrong understanding of CNC equipment capabilities and tooling requirements to troubleshoot process failuresProven experience in Six Sigma, 6S, and Lean ManufacturingProficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) for tracking logs and SolidWorks for design collaborationExceptional communication skills for reporting repair statuses and coordinating with external vendorsPHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING ENVIRONMENTSitting for long periods of time, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, or crouchingUse hands to finger, handle, or feel parts; reach with hands and armsOccasionally lift and/or move up to 40 poundsClose vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to differentiate shades and color to identify defectsFast-paced environment focused on machine uptime and high-volume productionLow noise levels in an office environment with occasional moderate noise levels and working near moving mechanical parts on the shop floorMandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, shoes, and ear protectionCULTURE:At FM Industries our success is powered by people and technology.
