Job DescriptionWelder II (Mechanical Focus) - Power Plant | Relocation Offered | $50-$58+/hr + Union BenefitsLocation: Southeastern Montana Pay: $50.75/hr → $58.50/hr (after 6 months) Benefits: Union position + 8% 401(k) + 6% match + relocation assistanceAbout the OpportunityThis isn't your typical welding job!!We're hiring a Welder II for a well-established power plant in Southeastern Montana-someone who enjoys hands-on, heavy industrial work and wants more than repetitive shop welding. This role blends advanced welding skills with mechanical maintenance, giving you the chance to work on critical plant equipment and systems.If you like tearing things down, rebuilding them, and getting them running better than before-you'll fit right in.What You'll Be DoingPerform structural and stainless steel welding in all positions, including pipe welding (GTAW/SMAW)Troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul pumps, compressors, valves, and gearboxesComplete full equipment tear-downs and rebuilds, including bearings, impellers, and rotating componentsPerform precision alignments and balancing on fans, pumps, and other rotating equipmentRead and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and schematicsSupport preventative maintenance and maintain accurate equipment historyWork with a variety of equipment including hoists, loaders, and other heavy machineryWhat We're Looking For3+ years of power plant or heavy industrial mechanic/welding experience OR completion of a formal apprenticeship program (6000+ hours)Strong skills in pipe and structural welding (all positions), including stainless steelAbility to pass a 6G GTAW/SMAW pipe welding testExperience with mechanical systems (pumps, compressors, rotating equipment)Comfortable using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators)Ability to read blueprints and troubleshoot complex systemsValid driver's licenseWhy This Role Stands OutTop-tier pay with a fast track to $58.50/hr.Variety in your day-not just welding, but full mechanical involvementUnion position with strong retirement benefits (8% + 6% match)Relocation assistance providedWork on critical infrastructure in a stable, essential industryReady for Something More Than Just Welding?Apply today or reach out directly to Alek at alek.scherber@gogpac.com for questions or confidential consideration!Keywords: welder, pipefitter, boiler, fabrication, structural steel, technician, maintenance, mechanical, journeyman, boilermaker, brazer, coal, power plant
