Essential Functions & Responsibilities Operations TechnicianAs an Operations Technician you will be responsible for performing field work on a customer site in Whiting, IN to meet the goals of the onsite operation of centrifuge equipment in a safe and conscientious manner. Position Summary The Operator Technician is responsible to assist with the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of centrifuge systems used for sludge dewatering within the British Petroleum (BP) oil refinery wastewater treatment facility. This role supports Chemical Operators to achieve environmental compliance, waste minimization, and continuous operations by monitoring, inspecting, and maintaining centrifuge equipment and associated processes. Key ResponsibilitiesAssist the operation team to monitor centrifuge systems for sludge dewatering.Assist the operation team with maintenance activities, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs.Conduct routine inspections of centrifuge equipment, pumps, polymer systems, and associated piping and hoses.Complete daily operations and inspection reports.Collect and analyze samples (sludge, centrate, & oil effluent) to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards.Coordinate with maintenance team for planned and unplanned shutdowns or repairs.Maintain accurate logs, reports, and operational data in accordance with plant procedures.Ensure proper handling and storage of chemicals (e.g., polymers, coagulants).Follow all refinery safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and hazard communication.Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all timesPrepares necessary supplies, tools, monitors and other equipment for daily operationsProvides labor support for installation of liners in roll-off boxes and safely operates pumps, heaters, forklifts, filters, scrubber systems and samplingMonitors pumps and piping systems, tank levels, centrifuge operations, loading and unloading operations and roll-off boxesOperates small hand tools and equipment; makes repairs to equipment as neededPerforms daily checks and inspections of centrifuge and associated operations; troubleshoots processes and equipment as neededTakes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization Education - High-school diploma or equivalent (required) ExperiencePrevious experience in a related role (preferred)OSHA 10- or 40-hour training (preferred) Benefits, Compensation & Workforce Diversity Arcwood offers competitive pay and bonus incentives.
