Southeast Delco School District Special Education Learning Support Teacher- Math (10th Grade)Academy Park High SchoolReports to: Academy Park High School PrincipalJob Summary:The ideal candidate will support the District's mission and vision and have the primary responsibility to plan and deiver developmentally appropriate lessons that meet state-mandated standards. Each teacher will also communicate regularly and effectively with students/parents.Qualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory. The Southeast Delco School District will adhere to all applicable laws and regulations in assessing an employee's ability to carry out or otherwise meet the job requirements set forth herein in a satisfactory manner.Duties & Responsibilities:Responsible for the education of students and implementation of IEP'sWork directly with students with special education needs and teams who support these studentsProvide 1:1 training to staff in the areas of instruction and behavior as required by IEPDevelop IEP's in conjunction with IEP teamsPrepare lessons in accord with PA State Standards and student IEPsImplement adaptations for testing and assessmentIdentify accommodations and specially designed instruction to ensure student successDevelop individual assessments and administer diagnostic tests to access students' academic achievementCollaborate with School Psychologist to develop Positive Behavior Support PlansImplement Crisis Intervention and Safety Care strategiesCollect data and monitor student progress reportsWork effectively with teacher assistant and other members of the IEP teamKeep up to date attendance records and child tracking data on each enrolled studentAssume additional duties as assigned by program DirectorRequired Skills & Abilities:Knowledge/awareness of own cultural identity and how this influences behavior, and desire to learn about the cultural identity of othersAbility to establish and nurture an environment that promotes cultural competence and equitable treatment of staff, students and patrons of the DistrictAbility to recognize that each person is a unique individual even as we celebrate their group cultural heritageKnowledge of PA Core Standards and eligible contentKnowledge of Instructional Planning Guides as it relates to the instructional blockKnowledge of Digital Curriculum componentsAbility to courageously lead conversations focused on equity, closing opportunity gaps, and equal access to technology-infused lessons of rigorAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with District staff and administrators, students, parentsor guardians, outside agencies, and the public, in a multi-ethnic, multicultural, multilingual environmentAbility to receive and implement feedback to improve practice and systemsEducation & Experience:Bachelor's Degree from accredited college or university required.Valid Pennsylvania Certification: Special Education 7-12, Special Education K-12, or a confirmed pathway to certification requiredValid Pennsylvania Certification: Mathematics 7-12 requiredMaster's Degree in Education or a related field of study preferred.2+ years of experience teaching in education environments preferred.Physical Requirements:Work schedule hours on a consistent basisIndoor office environment is subject to frequent interruptionsPushing, moving and lifting objects with a strength factor of light workDexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of standard office equipmentClarity of vision at varying distancesVerbal, auditory and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate mannerSitting and standing for extended periods of timeFrequent sitting, standing and walkingReaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally to retrieve and store files and suppliesOccasional kneeling, crouching and squattingOccasional bending, reaching and stretchingOccasional pulling, pushingLevel of Compensation: $50,726 - 103,534 (dependent on Step and Track placement as determined based on collective bargaining agreements)Disclaimer:The preceding list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary.
