Maintains accurate maintenance records and performs DOT inspections. Work is performed primarily at job sites from a field service truck.Main Responsibilities:Embrace the Company's safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teamsSupport, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policiesUse diagnostic equipment, visual inspection, and other tools to diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairsRepair and replace damaged or worn partsDismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand toolsOperate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defectsTest mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specificationsRead and understand OEM operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings as necessary to ensure proper operation of equipmentExamine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks and equipment, and makes adjustmentsClean, lubricate and perform preventative maintenance work on equipment and vehicles in accordance to manufacturer recommendations and established intervalsMaintain clean tools and working areaPerform other routine duties such as building maintenance, equipment hauling, and equipment operationPerform high and low voltage electrical trouble shooting and repairsFabricate special lifting or towing attachments, hydraulic systems, shields, or other devices according to blueprints or schematic drawingsEducation:High School Diploma or EquivalentCertificate in Diesel Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience preferredValid driver's license; required to maintain acceptable driving recordDOT Medical Examiner Certificate and/or ability to obtain requiredCommercial Drivers' License (CDL) a plusASE Certification preferredSkills:3 or more years of experience as a diesel/heavy equipment mechanic preferredExperience performing U.S. DOT vehicle and brake inspections and adjustments preferredProficiency in MS Office Programs (Word, Outlook, Excel)Ability to follow verbal and written instructionsAbility to write routine reports and correspondenceBasic computer skill, including ability to operate mobile device (phone, tablet, etc.) and related applicationsPhysical Requirements:Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as requiredMust maintain and provide basic tooling required for position; specialty tooling provided by the CompanyRegularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistanceRegularly required to use hands to feel, handle, and manipulate objectsRegularly required to communicate (talk and hear)Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawlStanding/working on feet for long periods (8 hours or more), and walking across uneven terrainFrequently exposed to loud noise produced by machinery and equipmentFrequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditionsFrequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and fumes, chemicals, or airborne particlesBenefits and Perks:Compensation*: $30-$35 DOE* Estimated target starting compensation; actual compensation to be determined based on assessment of an individual's qualifications, education, and experience relevant to the role.Benefits:All full-time hourly employees are eligible to participate in Simon benefits as defined in plan documents.
