HVAC Refrigeration Technician

THE POSITION As an HVAC Refrigeration Technician for the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), you help keep the critical systems at Fort Indiantown Gap operating safely and reliably. This role allows you to apply your technical skills while maintaining the comfort and performance of many facilities. DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position maintains, adjusts, and repairs HVAC and refrigeration systems that support daily operations at Fort Indiantown Gap. The role involves troubleshooting equipment, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring systems operate safely and efficiently. As an HVAC Refrigeration Technician, you will perform the following duties: System Maintenance: Perform preventive maintenance and service a wide range of HVAC and refrigeration equipment Technical Diagnostics: Inspect and troubleshoot complex system malfunctions and ensure proper functionality Control Adjustment: Clean, test, and calibrate controls, sensors, actuators, dampers, and valves Electrical Work: Repair electrical controls, install wiring, and follow National Electrical Code standards Material Preparation: Prepare requisitions, material lists, and maintain accurate records of work and supplies Tool Operation: Use and maintain hand and power tools needed for HVAC and refrigeration duties Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements Successful completion of the HVAC and Building Automation Technician trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Three years of experience in the maintenance, repair, and installation of HVAC and refrigeration systems, units, and equipment including one year working with commercial or industrial HVAC or refrigeration equipment and controls; or An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year working with commercial or industrial HVAC or refrigeration equipment and controls. Special Requirements You must be in possession of an active motor vehicle license. You must obtain EPA Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification from an approved provider within 6 months of employment. Additional Requirements A conditional offer is contingent on passing a favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
