Salary: $20.40 Hourly Location : Wadley, AL Job Type: Part-Time Job Number: 03603 College/Division: SUSCC-601120-Security Services Opening Date: 10/09/2023 Closing Date: Continuous Campus Location: Southern Union State Community CollegePosition SummaryThe primary task of the Part-time Campus Police Officer at Southern Union State Community College is to assist with the functions and operations of the Police Department in the enforcement of laws and ordinances, the prevention of crime, and protection of life and property. The Part-Time Campus Police Officer reports to the Director of Public Safety/Chief of Campus Police. SALARY: $20.40 per hour not to exceed 19 hours per week.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesIn addition to adhering to the policies, procedures and guidelines as specified by Southern Union State Community College Employee Handbook, Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the President, and Director, duties include the following: Safeguards Southern Union students, faculty, staff, authorized campus visitors, college property, buildings, and equipment. Enforces and conforms to college policies and regulation as well as state and federal laws Implements crime prevention procedures Investigates on campus incidents; prepares accident and crime reports Carries an approved weapon and maintains a satisfactory proficiency level of performance Participates in college activities Responds quickly in emergency situations Works flexible hours Other duties as assigned by the President, the Dean of Student Services and Chief of Campus Police QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED is required. Two years' experience in law enforcement or Alabama Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission (APOST) certification is required. Firearms certification is required. Must possess tact, maturity, confidentiality and good reasoning skills. Experience with first aid procedures and techniques. Valid Driver's License is required.
