Primary hours will be Monday through Friday, day shift, with hours flexible to meet the needs of the patients.Job Duties & ResponsibilitiesRecord the history of present illness, past medical, family, and social historyPerform physical examinationsEstablish and follow plan of care in conjunction with MDPrescribe appropriate medications to a specialty pharmacy that will handle prior authorization and other necessary paperwork; order refills as neededPatient and family teachingOrder appropriate labs, tests, and procedures and follow up with patient as neededCoordinate care and refer to other medical professionals as neededDocument clinic, telephone, and other patient encounters in the Epic systemReview lab results in Epic, communicate and interpret resultsCollaborate with IBD Resource Nurse regarding IBD patient triage and return patient calls within 24-48 hours; provide feedback regarding scheduling of urgent patient appointmentsReview outside records including clinic notes, hospital records, outside radiographs, lab, and other test resultsCollaborate with nursing staff to complete patient paperwork including medication pre-certifications for insurance companies, durable medical equipment requests, disability paperwork, and handicapped permit applicationsAttendance at GI Grand Rounds, IBD meetings, and IBD conferences is expected.Participation in other divisional educational events is also encouraged.Job Eligibility RequirementsEducationNurse Practitioners:Work requires completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with a Master's degree in Nursing.Physician Assistants:Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. A Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred.CertificationBLS required.LicenseNurse Practitioners:Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
