Capture Manager (National Security and Defense)

Job Description Position OverviewWe are seeking a Capture Manager to support the growth of our client's National Security & Defense business unit, focused on mission-driven programs across DHS, DoS, and related federal agencies.This role will lead capture efforts for complex federal pursuits, driving strategy and execution from opportunity shaping through proposal submission. The ideal candidate brings experience leading competitive pursuits, building customer relationships, and aligning technical and business strategies to improve win probability. This role follows a hybrid work schedule, with the primary work location based in McLean, VA.Key ResponsibilitiesLead capture activities for federal opportunities across National Security & Defense accountsDevelop and execute capture strategies, win themes, and pursuit plansShape opportunities pre-RFP through customer engagement and market intelligenceCoordinate with business development, proposal, pricing, and technical teams throughout the capture lifecycleConduct competitive analysis, teaming assessments, and price-to-win evaluationsSupport executive reviews, gate decisions, and pursuit briefingsBuild and maintain relationships with government stakeholders and industry partnersTrack capture metrics, lessons learned, and overall pursuit performanceRequired QualificationsAbility to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance5+ years of experience in federal capture management, business development, or related growth rolesExperience supporting DHS, DoS, or other National Security customersDemonstrated experience supporting competitive federal pursuits valued at $25M+Strong understanding of the federal acquisition lifecycleExperience developing capture plans, win strategies, and competitive assessmentsProficiency with tools such as GovWin and Salesforce/TechnoMileStrong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skillsPreferred QualificationsActive Secret or Top Secret clearanceExperience supporting DHS components such as CBP, ICE, or FEMAFamiliarity with cloud, cybersecurity, AI/ML, or digital modernization initiativesExperience supporting organizations competing in full-and-open environmentsPrior experience mentoring capture or growth professionalsCompensationThe estimated salary range for this position is $145,000 – $165,000 annually, based on market benchmarks within the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
