Database Administrator
NetworkIP is seeking a versatile Database Administrator to take ownership of our data infrastructure. In this role, you will design, maintain, and optimize our core database environments to ensure high availability, data integrity, and peak performance. The primary focus will be on MySQL and Vertica, with occasional baseline support for legacy Informix systems.
The ideal candidate is a team player who bridges the gap between database administration and development, collaborating closely with engineers to design efficient schemas while keeping the underlying infrastructure rock-solid.
Core Responsibilities
Backup, Recovery, and Disaster Recovery (DR)
Strategy & Execution: Own the end-to-end backup strategy for MySQL, Vertica, and Informix. Ensure consistent, point-in-time recovery capabilities.
Granular Restoration: Manage and verify backups at all levels, including full instances, specific schemas, individual tables, views, and stored functions/procedures.
Routine Testing: Establish a regular schedule for automated backup validation and restoration drills to guarantee data integrity in a disaster scenario.
High Availability & Replication Monitoring
Replication Management: Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot replication topologies for both MySQL and Vertica.
Proactive Alerting: Build and maintain monitoring systems to track replication lag, cluster health, and node availability, minimizing the risk of data drift or downtime.
Lifecycle Management
Data Pruning Strategies: Design and execute automated data retention and purging policies for rapidly growing tables without impacting live production performance.
Upgrades and Updates: Oversee database upgrades, patches, and schema migrations. Implement testing processes to ensure system uptime.
Database Design & Developer Collaboration
Schema Architecture: Partner with development teams to design efficient databases, tables, views, and indexes.
Optimization: Apply deep knowledge of database-specific data types to optimize storage and query performance.
Review & Governance: Act as a reviewer for database migrations and schema changes before they hit production environments.
