Accounting Controller

Job Description We are seeking an experienced and detail-orientedController to oversee financial operations, ensure compliance, and support strategic decision-making. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting leader who thrives in a growing organization and enjoys improving processes while maintaining strong internal controls.Key Responsibilities- Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and month-end/year-end close- Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners- Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls and accounting policies- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff- Support leadership with financial insights, reporting, and strategic analysisQualifications- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's preferred)- CPA license preferred- 5–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including management responsibility- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting- Experience with accounting software and ERP systems- Advanced Excel skills- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skillsPreferred Experience- Experience in a CPA firm, professional services, or multi-entity environment- Prior experience managing audits and tax filings- Familiarity with California-specific compliance requirementsCompensation & Benefits- Competitive salary based on experience- Health, dental, and vision insurance- 401(k) with employer contribution- Paid time off and holidays- Professional development and CPA support (if applicable)Company DescriptionPeter Holtz CPA has been a leader in tax planning, consulting, and accounting services.
