Description TITLE: Bus Driver PERFORMANCE PROFILE SOURCE: Transportation DEPARTMENT: Operations REPORTS TO: Director of Operations - Logistics Non-Exempt PRIMARY FUNCTION: Boys & Girls Club Vehicle Operator is responsible for safely operating a transit motor vehicle. The primary objective of the Vehicle Operator is providing safe, reliable, and efficient public transportation. KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities): General Responsibilities Report to work on time and in proper uniform as outlined in the Employment Handbook.Maintain a strong attendance recordPossess a valid Commercial Driver's License of the appropriate class, with all necessary endorsements and /or state certifications, and a valid Medical Examination Card when on duty.Perform pre-trip vehicle inspections.Safely operate a passenger transportation vehicle.Maintain a good rapport with the general public.Follow company safety and operational rules and procedures. Specific Physical Job Functions Sit in the driver's seat for long periods of time.Constantly use full range of sense of hearing, including tone, pitch, and volume, when operating vehicle, and assisting passengers.Constantly use full range of sense of speech, including audibility and annunciation when assisting passengers.Constantly use full range of vision, including depth perception, accommodation, color vision, and acuity near/far when operating transit vehicle.Finger vehicle controls and paperwork throughout the shift.Handle transfers and other paperwork throughout shiftOccasionally push passengers in wheelchairs over short distances.Occasionally stoop when performing vehicle inspections and securing wheelchairs.Frequently bend at the knee, hips, and waist when operating a vehicle, occasionally when securing wheelchairs and performing vehicle inspections.Occasionally twist at the knee and waist when operating the vehicle, occasionally when securing wheelchairs and performing vehicle inspections.Frequently reach forward, reward, upward, and downward when operating a vehicle, occasionally when performing vehicle inspections, and securing wheelchairs.Occasionally stand while performing vehicle inspections and assisting passengers and the public.Occasionally walk while performing vehicle inspections and assisting passengers and the public.Occasionally be subject to wet, cold, and/or hot environmental conditions when performing job duties.Constantly be subject to low risk of injury due to vehicle accident, mechanical failure, fire, and/or explosion.Constantly be subject to vehicle noise and vibration while operating a transit vehicle.Occasionally be subject to vehicle exhaust fumes and odors, and road dust and mist.Write reports in coherent, legible manner.Other functions that may be assigned. Requirements The applicant must have or be able to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver's License with a passenger endorsement. A criminal background check is required based on the type of commercial license needed. The applicant must have a neat appearance and sincere desire to work with the youth.
