Senior Cost Accountant$70-80k (onsite) M-F 8-5pReports to ControllerWe are looking for someone with 3+ years in Manufacturing Cost accounting experience, and strong understanding of Bills of Materials (BOMs).OverviewThis role is primarily focused on cost accounting within a manufacturing environment (~75%), with additional responsibility for general accounting and close activities (~25%). The position partners closely with operations and production to deliver accurate cost insights and support decision-making.Key ResponsibilitiesCost Accounting (Primary Focus)Prepare and analyze monthly cost and margin reporting (revenue, COGS, productivity, profitability)Perform variance analysis (actual vs standard/FIFO) and identify root causesMaintain and update Bills of Materials, including labor and overhead componentsAnalyze overhead rates and cost allocation methodsReconcile inventory and WIP between subledger and general ledgerSupport cycle counts and inventory variance resolutionAssist with budgeting, forecasting, and cost modelingPartner with operations to understand processes and improve cost accuracyGeneral AccountingPrepare and post month-end journal entries (inventory, accruals, cost-related)Perform account reconciliations and supporting analysisAssist with month-end and year-end closeSupport financial reporting in accordance with GAAPAssist with audits and related documentationMaintain internal controls and accounting proceduresQualificationsEducationBachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldExperience3–7 years of accounting experience3+ years in manufacturing cost accounting preferredStrong understanding of inventory, BOMs, and cost structuresERP experience requiredSkillsCost accounting and variance analysisInventory and WIP managementBudgeting and forecastingAdvanced Excel (pivot tables, lookups)Strong analytical and communication skillsDetail-oriented with ability to meet deadlinesNice to HaveManufacturing or industrial backgroundExperience with process improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)Advanced ERP/reporting exposureWork EnvironmentMix of office and production floor exposureAbility to navigate warehouse/manufacturing areas as needed
