Aging often brings significant transitions-retirement, health changes, loss of loved ones, social isolation, or the effects of medications-that can impact mental wellness and overall quality of life.Our trained Senior Peer Counselors provide understanding, empathy, and connection, drawing from their own lived experiences to support others facing similar challenges. Working alongside Weld County residents aged 60 and older, they help participants build personal strengths, coping skills, and resilience, fostering greater confidence, social engagement, and emotional well-being. Through this program, seniors gain not just guidance, but also a sense of connection and empowerment, reminding them they are not alone on their journey.What You Will Do:Peer Counselors provide supportive counseling services to clients in the privacy of their homes, apartments, assisted living facilities, nursing home facilities, or other community locations.Encourage, support, and help older adults learn how to cope with emotional stressors and l; life difficulties.Relate to the emotional stresses of the aging process by offering clients hope regarding resiliency, through appropriate self-disclosure, role modeling, and coaching.Assist clients in improving their well-being and quality of life by coaching them in behavioral skills; educate clients to make informed choices; help the client problem solve and negotiate tasks/activities of daily living.
