Junior Instrument Sales Support & Repair Technician

Salary Range$65,000 – $85,000 annually, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.Position SummaryThe Junior Instrument Sales Support & Repair Technician serves as a primary technical resource for internal sales teams, providing accurate and timely support on analytical instrument functionality, configurations, specifications, and limitations. In addition, the role supports the bench-based diagnosis, repair, testing, and refurbishment of analytical laboratory instruments.Key ResponsibilitiesSales Technical Support (Primary Focus)• Serve as the first-line technical support contact for internal sales representatives• Respond to technical questions related to analytical instrument operation, specifications, configurations, and performance• Advise sales teams on instrument configurations, accessories, consumables, and compatibility• Support customer inquiries, quotations, and pre-sale technical discussions• Assist with troubleshooting to distinguish service issues from application-related questions• Communicate technical limitations, lead times, and service considerations clearly• Escalate complex or application-specific inquiries to senior technical staff as appropriateBench Repair & Technical Service (Secondary Focus)• Perform in-house, bench-based diagnostics, repair, calibration, and preventative maintenance on analytical instruments• Disassemble, repair, replace, and reassemble mechanical, electrical, and fluidic components• Assist senior technicians with complex repairs and refurbishment projects• Conduct functional testing and verification to ensure quality and performance standards are met• Accurately document repair activities, findings, test results, and parts usage• Maintain service benches, tools, and test equipment in proper conditionDocumentation & Cross-Functional Collaboration• Maintain service records, repair documentation, and internal technical references• Contribute to internal knowledge bases related to common questions and instrument configurations• Communicate clearly with sales, service, and operations teams regarding instrument status and turnaround timesRequired Qualifications• Associate’s degree, technical certificate, or equivalent hands-on experience in electronics, instrumentation, or engineering technology• Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems (fluidics experience preferred)• Hands-on experience with bench tools and test equipment• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills• Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences• Basic computer proficiency for documentation and communicationPreferred Qualifications• Experience with analytical or scientific laboratory instruments• Familiarity with chromatography, spectroscopy, or precision measurement systems• Prior experience supporting sales, customer service, or applications teams• Exposure to laboratory or regulated environmentsCompetencies & Attributes• Clear, professional communicator with a customer-support mindset• Detail-oriented and well organized• Collaborative and responsive in a sales-support environment• Motivated to learn new instruments and technologiesWork EnvironmentBench-based role in an in-house service or laboratory environment with standard business hours.
