This role is responsible for driving strategic growth by identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities, while strengthening relationships with key clients, partners, and industry stakeholders.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Growth & Market LeadershipDevelop and execute business development strategies to drive sales growth and market expansionIdentify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities aligned with Business Unit prioritiesLead the annual business development planning process and oversee executionClient Development & Relationship ManagementBuild and maintain strong relationships with key clients, agencies, and industry partnersLeverage an established network within rail and transit agencies and teaming partnersTransition client relationships effectively to project delivery teams upon awardOpportunity Capture & Sales ExecutionLead capture strategies, including positioning, teaming, and win approach developmentCollaborate with technical and marketing teams to assist in the development of proposals and fee strategiesSupport contract negotiations, due diligence, and partnership developmentMarket Intelligence & PositioningMaintain up-to-date intelligence on clients, competitors, and market trends through CRM toolsIdentify emerging opportunities based on industry trends, funding programs, and client needsRepresent Burns at industry events, conferences, and client engagementsInternal Leadership & CollaborationPartner with Business Unit leadership to align business development efforts with strategic goalsLead regular business development meetings and pipeline reviewsProvide mentorship, training, and guidance to staff on business development best practicesCollaborate with marketing on branding, campaigns, and promotional initiativesQualifications8-10+ years of relevant business development experience in the Rail and/or Transit industryDemonstrated success in winning and growing client relationshipsEstablished network within rail and transit agencies and industry partnersStrong understanding of mass transit policies, programs, and funding mechanismsProven ability to develop and execute strategic plans and capture strategiesExcellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skillsRole ExpectationsServe as a visible leader in the industry and represent Burns in key marketsSpend significant time externally with clients, partners, and at industry eventsDrive measurable results aligned with company sales and growth targetsHelp position Burns as a national leader in Railroad & Transit servicesEqual Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with DisabilitiesThis employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
