Director of Statewide Financial Reporting
Job Responsibilities
The Comptroller General's Office has the awesome responsibility of administering the expenditure and reporting of state funds - your tax dollars. Come join the office of the state's Chief Accounting Officer to assist in ensuring transparent public reporting and upholding fiscal integrity while serving the citizens of South Carolina.
Job Duties
You will be responsible for the Statewide Financial Reporting Division of the Comptroller General's Office.
You will direct daily and strategic operations for a complex division responsible for preparing the state's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
You will represent the Comptroller General before legislative and other statewide committees, national organizations (GFOA, GASB, NASC, and NASACT) and other professional and governmental meetings, as necessary.
You will remain current with any changes to GAAP/GASB standards, state laws, and general information affecting the state's reporting requirements.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Bachelor's degree and management or administrative experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master of Accountancy or related graduate degree.
Previous experience with the South Carolina Enterprise Information Systems (SCEIS) or other enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
Additional Requirements
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field with at least five (5) years of experience preparing or auditing financial statements in an enterprise-wide state or local government environment.
Must be licensed as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Extensive knowledge of GAAP and GASB standards that govern governmental financial statements.
Proven ability to manage teams and drive accountability, particularly in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.
