General Sales Manager - Mobile, AL

Job Description We are seeking an experienced and driven General Sales Manager (GSM) for Ross Downing Auto Group at our Ross Downing CDJR of Mobile dealership. The GSM will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the sales department to achieve sales and profitability goals, desk and structure deals, enhance customer satisfaction, and build a high-performing sales team. This individual will develop and execute sales strategies, monitor department performance, maintain accountability to dealership processes, and foster a customer-focused, results-driven culture throughout the dealership. Key Responsibilities:Sales Leadership & OperationsLead all daily operations of the New and Used Vehicle Sales DepartmentsDesk and structure deals to maximize profitability while maintaining lender and dealership complianceWork directly with sales managers and sales consultants to close deals and overcome customer objectionsDrive monthly sales volume, gross profit, market share, and customer satisfaction goalsMonitor appointments, lead handling, closing percentages, and sales activities dailyConduct daily sales meetings and performance reviewsEnsure consistent execution of dealership sales processes and CRM usageMaintain strong accountability throughout the sales teamTeam DevelopmentRecruit, hire, train, mentor, and develop sales managers and sales consultantsBuild and maintain a positive, competitive, and process-oriented cultureCoach employees on product knowledge, negotiation, closing techniques, and customer experienceSet clear expectations and performance standards for the sales teamMotivate staff to achieve individual and team goalsCustomer ExperienceEnsure every customer receives an exceptional buying experienceHandle customer escalations and resolve issues professionallyMonitor CSI performance and implement improvement plans when necessaryPromote transparency, professionalism, and integrity throughout the sales processInventory ManagementPartner with inventory and used car managers to maintain proper inventory levelsMonitor used vehicle pricing and market competitivenessManage inventory aging and turn strategyEnsure proper merchandising standards including lot presentation, online listings, and vehicle photosFinancial PerformanceMonitor department profitability, front-end gross, and expense controlCollaborate with the Finance & Insurance Department to maximize opportunitiesAnalyze reports, trends, and dealership financials to improve performanceEnsure compliance with dealership policies, lender guidelines, and legal regulationsPreferred Skills/Abilities:Minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive sales management, with a proven track record of success.Strong leadership and team-building skills.Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.In-depth understanding of sales processes, inventory management, and financial management.Proficient in dealership management software and other relevant technologies.Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions.Ability to upkeep confidentiality as needed.Benefits:Comprehensive benefits including 401k with company match, health, dental, vision, and life insurance options.Equal Opportunity Employer:Ross Downing is an equal opportunity employer. xaygatp We are a diverse group and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
