Position Overview
The Communications Manager serves as the Foundation's lead communications professional, responsible for setting strategy, defining brand and messaging, and executing integrated communications initiatives that advance the Foundation's mission, strengthen visibility, and support fundraising and donor engagement. This position works closely with Foundation leadership to lead the development and ongoing refinement of communications and marketing strategies, while directly producing high-quality content and managing digital platforms. This position provides direction to a small team and external partners, ensuring cohesive, effective, and timely execution of all communications efforts. This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College's District Board of Trustees.
What you will be doing
Directs and executes the Foundation's communications and marketing strategy, aligning messaging and campaigns with fundraising and College priorities
Defines and manages brand identity, voice, and messaging to ensure consistency and strengthen positioning
Develops and produces key communications materials, including donor communications, impact stories, campaigns, presentations, and reports
Manages digital platforms, including website, email marketing, and social media, to drive engagement and visibility
Partners with Foundation leadership and development staff to support fundraising, donor engagement, and Board communications
Prepares press materials and coordinate with the College's Office of Communications and Media Relations
Tracks performance metrics and use data-driven insights to refine strategies and improve effectiveness
Provides direction to supporting staff and vendors, managing workflows to ensure high-quality and timely execution
Identifies opportunities to enhance communications through new tools, trends, and best practices
Works closely with the Foundation leadership to align presidential messaging with broader institutional campaigns
Performs other duties as assigned
What you need to succeed
Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution and three (3) years of related experience; or Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution and seven (7) years of related experience
Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
Knowledge and understanding of communications, marketing, and branding principles, preferably within higher education, nonprofit, or philanthropic environments
Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, compelling messaging for diverse audiences
Experience managing digital platforms including websites, content management systems, email marketing tools, and social media channels
Ability to develop and implement strategic communications plans that support organizational goals and fundraising initiatives
Strong analytical skills, including the ability to track performance metrics and use data to inform strategy and decision-making
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and with internal and external stakeholders
Demonstrated creativity, attention to detail, and commitment to quality
Ability to work flexible hours that can include weekends and evenings
Ability to travel to various campus locations as needed
Ability to work well with students, faculty and staff
