Senior Lunch Program Cook
Issaquah Senior Center CookThe City of Issaquah Senior Center is looking for a skilled cook to prepare delicious meals for our Senior Center patrons! Our ideal candidate will be able to follow instructions in cooking and delivering well-prepared meals. The incumbent must be deft in moving around the kitchen and skilled at multi-tasking. Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques is critical.This is a part-time, non-regular position, with hours available on Wednesday Friday each week.Essential FunctionsSet up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment.Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat, etc.).Cook food in and on various cooking implements, including frying pans, grills, and other.Check food while cooking.Keep a sanitary and orderly environment in the kitchen.Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.Check quality of ingredients.Monitor, stock, and shop occasionally.Assist in planning the monthly menu.Clean up and proper sanitation of the kitchen.QualificationsHigh school diploma or G.E.D. required.Proven experience as a cook required.Current Food Worker Card required.Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.Must be 18 years or olderMust be able to pass a criminal background check.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling, etc.).Ability to follow all sanitation procedures.Ability to work in a team environment.Skill in communicating with diverse groups of people.Ability to safely use all necessary kitchen equipment (knives, hot surfaces, etc.).Ability to stand for long periods of time.Ability to work in an environment that may be loud, hot, and/or crowded.Ability to deliver quality meals on time.
