Coordinate Metrology Programmer (Zeiss Calypso)
Reports to: Quality and Safety ManagerA day in this role: You arrive to verify probe qualifications on a Zeiss CMM, calibrate, and load the latest Calypso routine you authored. Before lunch, you execute FAIRs on a new high-precision part family, advise machinists on critical features, and fine-tune fixturing for a faster changeover. The afternoon is spent validating sample and final inspections, scrubbing data for zero escapes, and closing out shipping certifications so the customer receives product that meets every requirement.What you'll doProgram and operate multiple CMMs; develop, maintain, and generate CMM programs that meet customer specifications (Zeiss Calypso preferred).Create robust fixtures for repeatable part setup and rapid changeovers.Plan and execute FAIR, sample, and final inspections for high-precision machined components.Partner with machinists, engineering, and manufacturing engineering to optimize measurement strategies for tightly toleranced, critical features.Continuously improve inspection procedures, processes, and methods to drive zero escapes.Maintain CMMs: perform probe qualifications, calibrations, and routine cleaning.Perform preventive maintenance on inspection equipment beyond the CMMs.Review customer specifications to establish accurate inspection criteria.Complete documentation for product shipment, certifying all customer and internal requirements are satisfied.Share knowledge and assist in training teammates to strengthen overall capability.Take direction from and report to the quality lead, while collaborating across departments to ensure effective data and information flow.Accurately complete all job-related paperwork and production reporting (time, attendance, inventory).Keep a clean, organized, and safe work area aligned with 6S and safety standards; comply with all safe practices, policies, and regulations.Perform other duties as assigned.QualificationsBachelor’s degree preferred; or 8 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree.Minimum 4 years in Quality Control or Machining.Knowledge of manufacturing methods and logistics administration.Required: CMM operation and programming skills.Advanced blueprint reading with deep GD&T knowledge and familiarity with military specifications.Preferred: Experience with Lean and quality systems (ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485, AS9100D).Preferred: Zeiss Calypso.Core proficienciesExpertise in GD&T application and interpretation.Equipment troubleshooting and strong general troubleshooting skills.Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).Tools you'll useCoordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), specifically Zeiss systems.If you’re driven by precision and collaboration, you’ll thrive here—own the metrology that keeps world-class parts moving to customers on time and to spec.
