Staff Accountant
DescriptionThis position reports directly to the Controller. The Staff Accountant is expected to assist the Accounting Manager with the preparation of the monthly financial statements and analyzing the operating budgets to make certain departments abide by their budgetary limits. Analyzes accounting records to determine financial resources required to ensure conformance to budgetary limits. Also responsible for reviewing operating budgets periodically in order to analyze trends affecting budget needs and prepares a variety of statistical reports. This is an exempt position.Assist with analyzing actual costs versus budgeted/funded costs.Assist with the preparation of annual budgets, waivers, and cost reports for submission to the Department of Public Welfare (ICF/ID; ICF/ORC; Consolidated Waiver), for all residents served by VERLAND and its affiliates.Revenue analysis for all corporations.Maintaining Full Time Equivalent (FTE) schedules for both employees and agency staff for budgeting purposes.Reconciling and maintaining the fixed asset ledger (including vehicle location).Performs bookkeeping and accounting functions, including preparing monthly financial statements in excel format.Assisting with reconciling and maintaining the Warehouse purchases and transfers to the CLA homes within the GP General Ledger System.Assisting with preparing the corporation’s five (5) Form 990 tax returns annually. Preparing and reviewing various account analyses with detailed schedules and reports.Assisting with the annual audits for all corporations, updating the required detailed schedules and reports.Developing new schedules and reports as requested by the Controller.Performs related duties as required.RequirementsBachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is required, along with three to five years’ experience in budgeting and cost reporting. Strong Microsoft Excel, GP, FRx, and Report Smith software experience is required. Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with good analytical skills are required. Strong ability to work in a team-oriented office.
