This financial uncertainty leaves practices struggling to stay afloat, while valuable revenue slips through the cracks.Joyful Health is building the AI-powered financial operating system for healthcare practices. Our mission is to bring the joy back to running a private practice by simplifying financial operations so providers can focus on patient care. We spent 10 months working as fractional CFOs for a dozen practices, doing this work side by side with providers as we developed our product.We just announced our $22M Series A led by CRV and world-class investors including the founders of MongoDB & KAYAK.We have an enormous opportunity in front of us. The broken healthcare payment ecosystem impacts practices of all sizes, and the opportunity to make a real difference is massive.Role DescriptionWe're looking for a proactive and experienced Billing Manager to join our team. This role is a unique blend of revenue cycle management (RCM) expertise and customer success. The Billing Manager will be the primary point of contact for a portfolio of client accounts, overseeing both the financial health of each account and the performance of the billing teams assigned to them.This position sits at the critical intersection of revenue operations and client success. You'll be responsible for both maximizing revenue recovery through effective billing team management AND ensuring client satisfaction through proactive relationship management. This dual focus requires someone who's equally comfortable diving into the details of denial trends and having strategic conversations with practice leaders about their financial health. The ideal candidate is excited about this balanced approach - taking ownership of client outcomes while implementing the operational excellence needed to deliver results.This role will report directly to the Head of RCM. This role is full-time. We are open to remote candidates for this role.The base pay range for this role is $90,000-$130,000 per year.Your ImpactAs our Billing Manager, you'll drive financial success for our clients while ensuring exceptional service delivery:Client Relationship ManagementServe as the main point of contact for a portfolio of healthcare practices, building trust and ensuring high satisfactionCollaborate closely with clients to understand their business needs and proactively offer solutionsDeliver regular performance updates and financial insights to clients, translating complex metrics into actionable recommendations Revenue Recovery LeadershipManage day-to-day billing operations, ensuring accurate claims submission, timely follow-up, and clean A/R managementLead QA processes for worked denials and A/R to maintain high-quality standardsOversee denial management, developing effective appeal strategies and tracking resolutionIdentify account risks early and develop action plans to mitigate revenue leakage Team & Process OptimizationGuide and prioritize the work of billing specialists to maximize revenue recoveryMonitor team capacity and performance, proactively addressing resource needsDrive process improvements that enhance both efficiency and financial outcomesSupport client onboarding and transitions, ensuring smooth implementation of our services Performance AnalyticsTrack and analyze key account metrics (A/R aging, denial rates, collection percentages)Identify trends across accounts to inform best practices and process improvementsTranslate data insights into strategic recommendations for both clients and internal teams Through these responsibilities, you'll help healthcare practices recover millions in lost revenue, allowing them to reinvest in patient care and practice growth while contributing to the evolution of our service offerings. You naturally empathize with users and enjoy designing solutions with their needs in mind.You have deep RCM experience5+ years experience in Revenue Cycle Management, with especially strong skills in Accounts Receivable (A/R) and Denials Management.
