Responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and supporting reconciliation and reporting activities to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Duties and Responsibilities Include The FollowingEnsure accurate posting of payments, disbursements, and commission statements. Process and manage direct bill and agency bill transactions. Apply principles of accounting to record, reconcile, compile, and analyze financial information. Review and validate all company invoices and statements payable and issue payment according to due dates. Review each vendor payment request to ensure the expense is allocated to the correct general ledger account, the information is accurate and has the proper authorization for payment to protect the integrity of the general ledger. Process ACH payments and checks to clients, companies, vendors, and employees for reimbursement according to established schedule. Perform account reconciliations by applying appropriate accounting policies/practices in a consistent manner; identifying outages and ensuring necessary entries are made to bring the account into balance. Send out and monitor accounts receivables. Download and import direct bill commissions. Prepare and review month end accounting entries. Process premium finance company payments received and returned. Processes invoice and statements. Post Inter-company ledger entries accurately. Adhere to established policies and procedures to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or ExperienceBachelor's degree from accredited four-year college or university in Accountancy preferred; or two years' accounting experience required. Insurance accounting a plus. Computer SkillsTo perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of computer applications such as the Internet, Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to use basic office machines. Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsCPA (Certified Public Accountant) desired, but not required. Other Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of commercial coverages and forms. Customer Service SkillsAbility and judgment to interact and communicate appropriately with other employees, customers and supervisor. Ability to serve customers, both internal and external, (community/public) in a manner that will reflect superior customer relations and enhance the overall marketing effort of Origin Bancorp. Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The minimum average base pay for this position based on market is: $50,938.00 The minimum base pay could be increased based on factors such as skills, education, or experience.
