Information Technology - System Administrator

Job Overview The State College Area School District is looking to hire a System Administrator to join our team. The System Administrator provides ongoing support for all systems/applications in support of internal and external applications; plans and executes implementation; installs and manages hardware, operating systems, and/or applications with the objective of providing robust and stable operating platforms. In addition, our System's team is responsible for monitoring and enforcing security policies and ensuring proper controls are designed into systems and networks. This is a full time position with benefits and a typical working schedule of 8am to 4:30pm. The position will be a core member of the district's operation technology team and works closely with fellow team members, as well as, technology support staff. Typical Work Duties: Responsible for maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization. Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage critical servers, and integrate automation processes. Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues. Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure. Perform regular backup operations and take part in processes for data protection, disaster recovery and failover. Provide escalation support for helpdesk support efforts. Qualifications: Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field or equivalent experience required - Bachelor's degree preferred. 2-4 years of database, network or system administration experience, or equivalent experience recommended. Working knowledge of virtualization, Hyper-V, or equivalent. Proficient knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and protocols. Excellent communication skills.
