For eligible positions, benefits start on your first day!We can't wait for you to join our heart-centered team!ResponsibilitiesThe Float Medical Assistant (MA) travels to rural clinics as well as the metro Oklahoma City area to assist with coverage for the Oklahoma Heart Hospital physician clinics. Great opportunity to learn from a variety of job functions from the various physician teams. Travel is required and mileage reimbursement when applicable.Under the direct supervision of the Clinic Nurse Director, Clinic Director, or Physician, the Medical Assistant assists with daily clinic operations while upholding the mission, vision, and values of Oklahoma Heart Hospital. This role supports efficient patient flow, accurate clinical documentation, and a positive patient experience.Float or travel to OHHP locations to fill in for clinical positions on an as-needed basis, following all policies and procedures.This position is classified as a safety-sensitive position, meaning Oklahoma Heart Hospital reasonably believes the duties of this role may directly impact the safety and health of the employee, patients, and others.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesAssist physicians and providers in both in-office and off-site Oklahoma Heart Hospital clinic locations while following all OHH policies, procedures, and regulatory requirementsManage patient flow by rooming patients, obtaining medical histories, and measuring and recording vital signsAnswer telephones, and direct calls to appropriate staffPrepare patients for examinations, procedures, and diagnostic testing in a cardiovascular-focused outpatient clinic environmentPrepare, clean, stock, and maintain examination and treatment rooms in accordance with infection control and safety standardsPrepare, maintain, and sterilize medical supplies, instruments, and equipmentAdminister vaccines, apply dressings, and assist with minor clinical procedures including wound care, suture removal, and staple removal as directedTriage patient telephone calls and communicate clinical concerns to nursing staff or physicians appropriatelyProcess prescription refill requests and communicate medication information with pharmaciesReview patient charts and electronic medical records (EMR) for accuracy and completeness prior to scheduled clinic visitsSchedule patient appointments and coordinate referrals, diagnostic tests, and hospital admissions within the Oklahoma Heart Hospital systemOrder, stock, and maintain clinical and office supplies and equipmentAssist patients with mobility or ambulatory needs while maintaining patient safety and dignityEducate patients on treatment plans, medications, diet, and physician instructions to support continuity of careDocument all patient interactions, treatments, and communications accurately and thoroughly in the medical recordQualificationsEducation: High school diploma or equivalent required.Licensure/Certification: BLS certification required within sixty (60) months of hire.
