The purpose of this position is to give the nursing student an opportunity to experience a realistic working environment and an insight into the practice of professional nursing.Essential ResponsibilitiesAttends to the individual needs of the patient which may include assistance with grooming, bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, toileting, transferring, communication or other needsPerform skills which include observation and documentation of glucometer checks, vital signs and Intake & Outake into appropriate record keeping systemsLifts, moves and transports patients using proper body mechanics or lifting devices for accident preventionAnswers patient call lights promptly and courteouslyAssists in providing a safe and friendly environmentMaintains the comfort, privacy and dignity of patients in the delivery of services to themInteracts with patients in a manner that displays warmth and promotes a caring environmentObserves patients for changes in condition or behavior and promptly reports these changes to the appropriate personnelUses infection prevention measures to prevent the spread of infection in and around the health care facilityDemonstrates the safe use of equipment and effective and efficient use of suppliesRequired QualificationsThe Student Nurse Technician must have completed the junior year in a four year baccalaureate degree program or completed one year of a two-year associate degree program.Union PositionNoApplicants must be able to meet the physical demands of the position.
