Bar Manager
Located in Grand Haven, MI we are a laid-back but busy restaurant offering a carefully curated selection of cocktails, beer, wine, share plates, sandwiches, and comfort food for all eaters with a friendly vibe and weekly live music.
We are excited to collaborate with a knowledgeable and experienced individual with great attention to detail and managerial skills to achieve operational consistency, as well as communicating and implementing company objectives in collaboration with the General Manager.
As the Bar Manager, your responsibilities will encompass overseeing our bar operations. These needs include but are not limited to: Bar staffing, cocktail creation and menu writing, customer service, inventory, ordering, solving various customer service needs, ensuring daily tasks are met, and effectively managing various office and operations needs for Lucy’s Inside and Backyard.
HOURS: 30-40 hours / week (occasional overtime as needed)
PAY: Hourly plus tips DOE

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Responsible for ensuring the overall success of the bar operations, maintaining company standards in organization and cleanliness, and achieving company goals.
BARTENDING SPECIFIC:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities to include (but are not limited to):
Cocktail menu creation, recipe writing, menu costing, and an understanding of how a cocktail is built is imperative.
Flavor profiles and a palate for understanding cocktail balance is required.
Knowledge of classic cocktail recipes and presentation and the ability to write and follow written cocktail build recipes is a must.
Bar tool use and equipment knowledge such as shakers, jiggers, pour spouts, strainers, glassware, garnishes, etc. is a must.
Bar flow and station set up knowledge is necessary.
An understanding of supply run through, stock rotation and inventory organization is crucial.
Must be comfortable with teaching, tasting, mentoring and monitoring all bar staff to elevate overall knowledge and skills behind the bar.
Must be comfortable speaking to all staff about product offerings, cocktail descriptions and other bar offerings.
Must develop a continuing education schedule with vendors/suppliers to come in and train all FOH staff on new offerings, and new menu items.
Must set daily cleaning checklists, open/close duties and monthly deep clean schedules.
Must set weekly/monthly equipment cleaning schedules with vendors.
MANAGERIAL:
Work Manager on Duty shifts as needed.
Communicate company procedures, and goals, and provide feedback to teams regarding results.
Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and/or local laws and regulations.
Represent Lucy’s with integrity to customers, associates, and partners.
Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures, including operational, financial, administration, compensation, safety, salary, and loss prevention policies.
Recruit, interview, hire and train new knowledgeable and performance-driven bar staff employees.
Hold team meetings regularly and review procedures accordingly.
Provide fair and consistent leadership to all team members, motivating improvement regardless of results.
Accountable for ensuring accuracy in employee hours and approving when overtime is necessary.
Ensuring staff is busy and motivated working on key tasks throughout the shift, or determining if we are overstaffed for that shift or overall.
Facilitate professional growth of staff by identifying developmental needs and providing learning opportunities.
Hold staff accountable for their performance and development, providing timely feedback and coaching.
Be approachable and take action; serve as the main point of contact for staff, assisting in resolving issues and knowing when to involve the GM and/or Owners.
Recognize and appreciate the contributions of all team members.
Proactively identify and solve inventory or staff problems.
Work closely with the GM to provide details, streamline processes, and increase profitability.
Ensure bars maintain housekeeping standards for a clean and safe environment.
Keep the facility in pristine operating and visual shape, inside and out.
Act and fill in as needed during staff absences or busy shifts.
Perform other duties as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
SKILLS
Bartending experience, knowledge of customer service, and knowledge of the spirits industry is a must, TIPS certification required within the first 30 days of employment.

SOFTWARE
Ability and eagerness to learn and grasp new software and technology easily.
Knowledge of POS Systems, preferably Resku.
Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office knowledge needed.
EDUCATION + EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of high school graduate or GED equivalent. A college degree is a plus.
Minimum 2 years of bartending experience.
Experience with cocktail recipes, menu writing, costing, and inventory is a bonus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to spend extended periods standing and/or walking and working on a computer.
Ability to meet physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodation.
Regularly engage in activities such as sitting, standing, bending, and lifting/moving up to 50 pounds regularly.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE:
Manage bar schedule to appropriate staffing levels.
Consistently train staff on any new items and/or changes.
Maintain pricing and new/old products in the POS system.
Proactive problem-solving to address small to medium issues before they reach the GM.
Maintain a clean, safe, and well-stocked bar.
Schedule periodic deep cleans as well as maintaining daily open/close cleaning lists.
Increase in overall bar sales and profits.
Decrease in excess bar inventory and ingredient waste.
Positive customer feedback.
