Structural Engineer (entry-level) - Job Req #101Azimuth Engineering Group - Parsippany, NJScope: Azimuth Engineering Group is seeking a talented Structural Engineer to join our team in Parsippany, NJ. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of structural design, computer-aided design, and inspection engineering projects. If you're a motivated individual with a passion for innovative design and problem-solving, we want to hear from you.Reports To: Project ManagerClassification: ExemptHours: Mon-Fri (may vary based on project needs)Supervisory Responsibility: N/AEssential Job Functions:Uses computer-aided design (CAD) and building information modeling (BIM) tools to accurately render and communicate design plansPrepare structural calculations and reports with some assistance to analyze various structure typesPrepare site plans and details on existing and proposed facilities including towers, water tanks, rooftops, billboards, and other supporting structures using applicable building and design codesWorks with a design team to create design sketches, layouts, and plans, adhering to applicable building and design codesEnter and track all project related data in a cloud-based platform according to company standardsConduct site visits to gather existing conditions data and effectively take notesCollaborate with project team to successfully complete projects with established budgets and deadlinesComplete assignments of increased difficulty as proficiency increases Complete self-review for all deliverables to reduce errors and meet quality standardsPerforms other related duties as assignedOther Duties:Maintain continuous awareness and knowledge of the project status Attend internal and external status meetings, as neededSeek guidance and take direction from other project team membersCompetencies: Excellent time management and organizational abilities Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, easily adapting to changing tasks and prioritiesAbility to manage time to meet multiple daily deadlinesStrong written and verbal communication skillsEffective and active listening skillsOrganizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and maintain schedulesExcellent problem solving, research, and analytic skillsAbility to effectively seek guidance and direction from others, while providing design guidance to Drafters and DesignersCommitment to personal and professional developmentAlways present yourself in a professional mannerAlways demonstrate a positive work attitudeDemonstrate practices and behaviors in accordance with applicable laws, codes, and standardsAbility to travel to sites throughout the NortheastValid driver’s license requiredEducation and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is required; Master’s degree is a plus0-3 years experience with structural designProficiency in AutoCAD is requiredProficiency in Revit and Inventor is preferredExperience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is a plusEngineer in Training is preferredTelecommunication experience is a plusExperience with RISA-3D, tnxTower, OCALC, or similar structural analysis software is preferredBasic proficiency in the comprehension of codes and standards, including IBC, ASCE, AISC, and ACI is required; TIA is preferredPhysical Demands: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computerMust be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a timeMust be able to access and inspect all areas of buildings, rooftops, and equipment
